Things I like way too much

  • That feeling when you’re driving into a curve and start to feel like you’re about to fly off

Old College Try The Mountain Goats
Old College Try by The Mountain Goats

A few years back I wrote about the first time I heard The Mountain Goats, at the gentle urging of a friend (gentle urging = he wouldn’t let me out of the car until I listened to them). I’m going to see them play tonight, and today on my way to work I passed the same friend on the freeway. A really big Southern California freeway, a county over from the one that we both live in. That was neat.

June 18th: googling 'back to school sales'

I’m enrolled in an automotive technology class for fall (with an eye out for a medieval history and/or boxing one that works with my schedule) but that’s enough of an excuse to shop the fuck out of some discounted cardigan twin sets. All over it.

One of the many heavy and important books I'm currently reading

has a full-sized back cover portrait of the author reclining on a bed in what looks like a corset with fishnet sleeves, accessorized with a dangly beaded choker and a thumb ring, and I am forbidden from judging anyone’s reading material, ever.

Linking to things, funny things, really good funny things, because I have no such things to say.

(Really. Last weekend was less partying and falling down and more going to the farmer’s market, cooking up a storm, accidentally cutting my thumb once and my nails twice -and not in any nice manicure way but more jagged geez, who has mad anxiety kinda styles- with really sharp knives, going on a nature walk with the family dog [we saw a coyote and my dog fell in full on hearts-jumping-out-of-eyeballs love and I had to wrestle her away from following certain death. And then there was a cactus incident, but it all worked out ok.] and going on some mad cleaning/organizing spree that had me making my own laundry detergent, sewing my own produce bags [I braided embroidery thread for the drawstring, who the fuck am I?], and organizing my closet by color and hem or sleeve lengths. So, booooooring.)

Such a good professional

In addition to using a Sharpie marker on thin paper (which it bled through and stained a desk that I share with a coworker) I have also used it to touch up scuffed shoes and to fill in where my skin showed through a tiny hole in my stocking.
