I did a bit of this when I read a reviewer claim that Ratatat’s album Classics “celebrates the nature and and resilience of the human spirit while simultaneously acknowledging its defects” (LOL WUT) but have to give them credit for nailing it with this first
bit:
“There’s something strangely melancholic about Ratatat’s sophomore record, Classics. Something that rests behind the dancey drum machine beats and the quirky synths, or even the alternating guitars. Outwardly it’s a fun album, triumphant and full of majestic refrains and riffs — you could play it for your indie rock friends if you wanted to get them to dance a little and were too afraid to play Daft Punk or Juan Atkins — but there’s still something in it, introspection gracenoted between the intricate (but never too ornate or over-complicated or even lush) instrument layers and classical arpeggios, contemplation sitting in bittersweet descents and acoustic guitar chords, French cinema- and IDM-induced reflection, that makes it somehow all very sad. “

For jerks like me who occasionally need to be reminded to be nice to people.

This came out in 2005. 2005! And I’m just now hearing it!
There is so much good music out there that I want to wrap myself up in and roll around with. I’m staying inside for a week.
chasingcoolness:What’s wrong with Ayn Rand? Okay, admittedly, I had a crush on Ayn Rand when I was 14, but it’s mostly because I was four-fucking-teen and I thought that life began and ended at rants of some mad woman. Still, though…
Liking? Is fine. Loving? Man, you’d better be handsome and have great manners.

It’s a real nice feeling when you send a friend an email demanding that they stop whatever super important shit they’re working on (probs craigslist casual encounters) and read the comic strip you sent them right motherfucking now, and you know that they will because you have super aligned senses of humor and when you first read the comic you laughed, then thought about them reading it and laughing, and then laughed at the thought of them laughing over it. Humor twins!
Of course, if he doesn’t respond, that bitch is dead to me.

“WOW, IT’S LIKE THIS THING HAS A MIND OF IT’S OWN!!”
What an asshole.

Doing storytime with real live firefighters next week
The odds of me waking up more than 10 minutes before I have to walk out the door (for a change) and maybe looking presentable (for a change): still not good. My anger over having to wake up (it’s so cruel) and get out of bed (I have to go out there?!) is a strong and powerful thing. Sleep 4 eva.
And while I was writing this, a woman came up, fist bumped me, and told me I was ‘da bomb’ for helping her apply for a job. Between this and the firemen, and all the daily stuff that falls in between, I mostly kind of do not mind waking up to come to work.

When this song came out I would lie on the floor in my room listening to it and thinking that this was what romance sounded like. “Those Tropicana drinks don’t blend as good as us.”

It's true. I love one of my children more than the other.

Things my older car does not have:
1. power windows
2. power doors
3. air conditioning
4. a paint job
5. A key that costs $230 fucking dollars to replace
Things that my newer car does have:

What is this I can’t even. Just so unnecessary. Such a scam. The dealer won’t make me a plain old metal key without all of the automatic door/alarm shit on it, because “it’s impossible”/then they wouldn’t be able to charge me out the ass for it. (And maybe because it’s impossible? I don’t know.) And I know I’m bitching about comparing my two cars. I’m aware of it. Like, I should have real problems. I know. But…$230 fucking dollars. For a key. A key. A key.
