So, Friday night my friend Eric and I went to see The Nightman Cometh up in LA. (He surprised my poor/paying for repairs on two cars/saving for a new place to live ass with a ticket, which in my book makes him RAD AS SHIT, even though he was before, too. But don’t tell him I said so, in case I want to do something else fun next week.) It was an awesome night, in which there were many many many good things, and only a few sucky things.
The first good thing? We made good time to LA and grabbed something to eat at The Waffle, where this happened:
Which meant that this happened:
And then happened again.
And…you get the idea.
And then some of the not so good things happened. After our meal (mine being about 75% liquid) we headed next door to the Palladium, which was TOTALLY OVERSOLD BY LIVE NATION. As a result there were major crowd control and security issues that not only made it uncomfortable just to be inside the venue, but also hindered the enjoyment of the performance. Little things like security constantly trying to herd people into different areas/directions and repeatedly shining flashlights back and forth in front of their eyes during the fucking play. (And no, I don’t blame security for -attempting- to do their job. I blame Live Nation for giving them an impossible job to do.)
Thankfully, the performance (or, what we able to observe of it) was spot on, from Mac’s karate to Dennis’s little boy to Charlie’s…Charlie. I loved the idea of taking an episode to the stage, and the overly dramatic characters translated well. Even taking into account that Live Nation is the devil incarnate, the play istself was worth every penny. (Of my friend’s money).
After the show got out we hung out in Hollywood for a bit, where many more good things happened, most of which looked almost exactly like the good things pictured above.
Only like, times ten.
